A Must-Visit for TCG Enthusiasts! This store is absolutely incredible, and exactly what this town needs I've been a loyal customer since the beginning. The owners are the heart and soul of this business—they are genuinely friendly, always happy to help, and go above and beyond for their customers. If they don't have a specific item in stock, they are proactive about special ordering it or even finding trade/sale opportunities through the community network or other shops. This level of dedication to customer service is what sets them apart. What truly makes this place shine is the community. Despite the typical stereotypes you might encounter in TCG spaces, the atmosphere here is incredibly welcoming and positive. I have yet to meet a single person who wasn't super friendly. They offer a free play space where you can consistently find games of Commander (MTG) running and occasionally others such as Pokemon, Whether you're a seasoned veteran or just learning, you'll always find a welcoming pod. They foster community involvement beautifully. While they are waiting on official status from Magic and Pokémon play Networks, the local MTG community has already organized successful unofficial events, such as a recent New Capenna draft that had a great turnout. If you're looking to get your feet wet with competitive play, this is a low-pressure, supportive place to start. Furthermore, they maintain an active community Discord where you can check the shop info, see what's currently going on, and coordinate remote games using Tabletop Simulator. I honestly could go on for hours about how great this store is. If you are a long time sports card enthusiast, or brand new to the hobby, you definitely need to check out Hoov’s Hangout! JJ has a little bit of something for everyone including baseball, football, Pokémon, ONE PIECE, Lorcana, Magic: The Gathering, and Bo Battle Arena. This is not your typical card shop, like the name implies, this is a store that encourages you to hang out and “rip”some packs! They also stock card supplies like shoeboxes, top-loaders, etc. They even have a selection of snacks to purchase while you’re hanging out! This is definitely a family-friendly shop! I look forward to what the future holds as JJ continues to increase his inventory.
My mother and I stopped by the shop today for the first time and I would highly recommend. We were specifically looking for pokemon and they did not disappoint. Had packs, and a large selection of singles modern and original. From cheaper cards all the way to the holy grails of your collection. Along with the large selection the stuff was very friendly and we will definitely be back.
Fairly new place or new to me at least. Stopped in for first time this week after following them on Facebook. They have done a great job with online presence to get my attention. I've seen some live box breaks and decided to make my way in to the store. Most card shops ive been to over the years can be cluttered and unorganized, this place is the opposite. It is a very cool environment on the inside. Plenty of wax to open if that's your thing but I was having so much fun just looking at the singles they had in the display cases. I ended up dropping more than I want to admit bc the selection was that good. I can't wait to see what else this place has to offer and its truly a refreshing vibe there, enough so to ignite a hobby enthusiast in all of us.
My best friend and I took a Saturday road trip to Lexington and made it a point to stop in at the Roadshow. We drove a shade over 2 hours for the trip and, honestly? I’d have driven triple that. The staff was great. Friendly, helpful, and just all around good people. The ability to search the inventory for specific things using the in-store iPads was a tremendous addition to the usual card shop experience and I’m surprised more stores don’t do it. If you’re a fan of Kentucky Wildcat sports? This place should absolutely be at the top of your “To Visit” list. And then there’s the name sake of the store; Jim. As I have gotten back into the sports card game over the last year and change to help my son grow his collection I have run across some sketchy dudes who are only in it for the money and whatnot. Jim is most definitely NOT one of those people. One of the nicest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting...his love of the hobby and sports in general is genuine and infectious. I cannot recommend this shop strongly enough. Can NOT wait until I get the chance to go back...and next time I’m taking my son because it’s the perfect place to show kids new to the hobby that this is how you run a shop!
