July 2025 Update: The store has shown great growth in our little community in the past year. Store does buying/selling singles for pokemon, MTG, and currently working on taking in UA, Digimon, and One Piece. Store is getting into offical tournament and challenge events in their respected TCG. Everyone that plays in store are welcoming and take in new players if they're brand new to the game. Seal product vary in pokemon, MTG, One Piece, and the niche card games coming up from Japan. Old review: Store has a very good selection of all Pokemon product, but no singles. They do carry One Piece and DBZ In the glass display. GREAT pricing on most product. Will continue bringing my business here.
If you are a long time sports card enthusiast, or brand new to the hobby, you definitely need to check out Hoov’s Hangout! JJ has a little bit of something for everyone including baseball, football, Pokémon, ONE PIECE, Lorcana, Magic: The Gathering, and Bo Battle Arena. This is not your typical card shop, like the name implies, this is a store that encourages you to hang out and “rip”some packs! They also stock card supplies like shoeboxes, top-loaders, etc. They even have a selection of snacks to purchase while you’re hanging out! This is definitely a family-friendly shop! I look forward to what the future holds as JJ continues to increase his inventory.
This store has a Dungeons and Dragons vibe. Be warned that they are a small business without a lot of inventory. This means it may be months before you can buy a copy to share with a friend if you bought a game you really liked or you lost an important piece. While I was able to find a game that I wanted to buy I feel they could have a little more variety in complex strategy games. Where I really see potential for this business is their game room. I didn't ask, but the game room is like half the store giving plenty of space to play even very complicated board games. I am under the impression that you may bring your own games and just play. However, I want this place to succeed so while I don't live in Salina I feel $5/hr/person is fair for giving you space to enjoy puzzles and games. Perhaps a service they can offer in the future is a player rental service because many people enjoy games but have nobody to play with.
Hot Pax is a gaming, TCG , Sports cards, collectibles, and more store located in Watertown, SD.
What makes this store special is the people. The owner Adem has a deep love of gaming and is one of the nicest most genuine people you will ever meet. But what's more, he cultivates that in his staff. The effect is that there's always an excitement about gaming eminating from behind the counter and out amongst the tables. They run great events and I primarily interact with the store playing MTG Pre-Release. They always finish timely and have a great group with very good prize for price. That being said, I do ask for recommendations on games to play with my young son and they have always made recommendations that our family loves. The photo is of a playmat the store specifically commissioned which I think shows the enthusiasm and passion I love in the place.

UPDATE: we were just there for the reopening. Their space has doubled - and now there are SO many games... And so much space for gaming of all kinds (and an extra bathroom!). It's our favorite place to go play and it just got even better! This place is great for gaming, no matter your game. The selection of games to buy isn't huge, but it's nicely curated. The play area is clean and spacious (and about to get bigger!) Most importantly, the owner is friendly and knowledgeable.
This is our favorite store for buying & trading Pokémon cards. Michael (the store owner) is truly one of the kindest humans and so knowledgeable. He prices his items fairly and is always willing to answer any questions with a smile. You can find multiple fandoms here, and there are regular in-store trading card events such as releases and tournaments. Michael has created a culture & community of the nicest players in the area. I can’t recommend this place enough!
