What an honor it was to find this sweet spot! Hands down, the absolute best customer service experience I have ever had. From cute little accessories to various games for people of all ages to play, this spot is a hidden gem. There is plenty of space for any dnd adventures as well as spots to paint minifigures in the back! I was able to pre order a FFXIV mtg set at msrp!!! They also have a sweet companion kitty that rests inside the store and adds to the immersion! I will be coming back and would encourage others to support our local stores!!

The Inner Geek

The Inner Geek

4.5(235 reviews)
Ashland, KY

"Geek" culture has become mainstream and has devolved into a late stage capitalism nightmare. The value of what you say you enjoy as culture or art is defined by it's monetary value not it's cultural or intellectual worth. The 80s art investment trend destroyed art, art is never mentioned in the news unless it has to do with it's price tag. It has become a capitalist commodity. The same goes for cards and collectibles, sneakers and tshirts. I grew up liking comics but at some point I discovered the comic book price guide. From there my perceptions changed. It's fine, I grew up and discovered literature and girls and European comics. I know of many smart kids that started out buying Pokemon cards because they used to play the game, now they buy them (at 15) to pull rares. One kid pulled a card that is worth thousands. I pity him actually, it's not worth a nascent gambling addiction, the shot of adrenaline must have been heart stopping for him. Geek culture is now buying meme stock. Geek culture is spending absurd amounts of money for a Fall Guy action figure plane set because you remember the ad from when you were a child. Geek culture is lauding Stan Lee, a greedy overbearing man who really screwed Jack Kirby, a true artist and visionary. Stan Lee, a mediocre fraud with weak and simplistic ideas. Geek culture doesn't include Moebius, Caza, Corbin, Bilal superior in every way because of their artistry and originality. Don't worry Corbin was American. Geek culture is herd mentality focusing more and more on how much their movies make, the value of their collectables, the condition of their possessions. Geek culture is accepting DandD as an entirely packaged product not an expression of individual creativity. Geek culture is accepting the pedestrian, overwritten, derivative and unoriginal Harry Potter series for too many generations. And now it's time to refilm everything over and over again because money and an undiscerning fan base of geeks who live by diminishing returns. America is nearing a cultural end point and geek culture is contributing to this decline. Don't pretend geek culture is a subculture anymore when superhero movies are still on top. So I think your store is just another money trap. The Internet has ruined collectables and comics by setting a Dow Jones of value for every thing. I would eventually find everything you have there for cheaper. I don't impulse buy. One star.
