The environment is really nice. Comic shops typically make me nervous, but I'm not super nervous there. There's a lot to choose from, and prices are super accessible. Found some Moon Knight comics I'd been looking for forever :)
WOW! Damien (spelling?) grew up in Nixa and watched it grow from a community of 3,000 to about 40,000. He served as a firefighter and still does part-time construction, but it's evident that the journey of his lifetime has led him to a passionate involvement in his community through his card and comic book store. Our 12-year-old nephew spent a week with us and on his second to last day here we took him to a new-to-us store where he found treasures and met the nicest person! Our nephew was specifically looking for Patrick Mahomes cards and Damien knew he had some at home, so while my nephew continued to browse, Damien made the quick drive home and brought back a stack! He talked with our nephew and saw his passion for collecting. Damien made him an *incredible* deal on a stack of Mahomes cards AND gave him another pack for free. All he asked in return is that our nephew continue to take good care of his collection. This is the small town hospitality and connection we all crave. Despite all our adventures over the last week, I think this is the happiest I've seen my nephew. The level of excitement and gratitude for the rest of the car ride + during lunch has my heart swelled with happiness that he's so happy. It's been two hours and nephew is still riding this high. ❤️
