I visited Cosmic Capes during their 2nd year anniversary, I am personally a big fan of Mike's store. Since meeting him back in April 2023, I have seen his shop change more and more. Don't mind the "new" temporarily wall facing outside when coming inside to say hello. Unfortunately, a mishap happened and his store was affected, but! If you are part of Mike's newsletter, it showed he took the incident in stride. Mike helped me with my first graded order for CGC. For fun, I picked two right from his rack I loved and sent them in. I really trust Mike's knowledge and it showed! 9.8 foils received back! And, 4/7 submitted were 9.8, nothing under a 9.0. His advice at what to look for helped me score my first 9.8 CGC signed for 'Stray Dogs' at Baltimore Comic Con in September 2023. 😎🤘 Some places use boxes or drawers to store comics. I don't mind this, but as someone who collects and helps others, I am not a fan of a tightly packed boxes/space. They gotta breathe! Mike is really good about how he places not just the comics, but all of his products actually. I personally like the magazine style he uses for the majority of his comic books. More inviting to the eye, and less back ache, which turns into me sitting cross styled on the floor rummaging through drawers 😑 I think what I like about Mike most is he is a collector himself, not just a seller. I appreciate his joy and genuine attitude because it's hard to find in a store now-a-days. Mike is also good about identifying scalpers and "sharing the love" to his customers/community. It can be seen as unfair at times, but Mike really allows everyone the best chance at an opportunity to score the same item(s).
I absolutely love this store! The owner, Mike, is extremely helpful and kind. The store is always well stocked and clean. I've been to other comic book shops in the area and nothing compares to this one. Mike also sells all of his comics beautifully packaged with a bag and board. You can tell he loves what he does and he takes pride in making the store inviting and friendly. Definitely give him your business and shop local.
It's a really nice, clean, welcoming and well stocked place. The owner is friendly and obviously loves what he does. I picked up a Belle Funko that I'd never seen before, and he showed me another I didn't even notice on the box. It was great to see an owner/employee actually engage with customers!
