My boyfriend and I enjoy checking out local trading card game stores and we wanted to check out some stores that we haven't been to. We had stopped by Kent for a meal and decided to check out The Game Shelf as they weren't too far. The parking is huge and shared with a lot of businesses and it was Friday evening, so it took a little bit of time to find parking. Once we parked, we entered into the store and were greeted politely by the cashier. There was a Magic the Gathering event going on and it looks like their events calendar always has something going on each day which is great. They even did Final Fantasy TCG which we have yet to see anywhere else and we have been to card shops in several parts of Washington. They had quite a massive selection of wares from desk mats, card holders, sleeves, deck boxes, board games, dice, and much more. We bought a few things and as we were checking out, the cashier mentions to us about their reward system which is a character sheet that you can fill out and there are six slots that they will add up from each amount you spent. Depending on how much you spend will determine your discount which I think is really neat and unique from other card shops. It rewards you no matter how much you spend rather than a point system that could take more than a few purchases to accumulate. I also asked if they were dog friendly and they are, they just ask that your dog is well-behaved, don't make a fuss or bother other patrons, and to clean up after them.
A welcoming and fun place to shop for games of any type. Board games, card games, and TTRPGs are all readily avaliable alongside shelves of minis, paints, and so many dice! I do wish their TTRPG book selection was a bit wider and yet I always manage to find something interesting whenever I stop in. Besides the product lines, their play area is quite large with plenty of room for tournaments or casual play alike. The staff has always been so kind and helpful.

Upon entering the enchanted emporium, I was greeted by a space most wondrous and bright as the morning sun, clean as the robes of the High Clerics, and organized with the precision of a master cartographer’s map room. Amber, the store’s guardian, and guide with the grace of an elven mage and the cheer of a bard on festival day, she bestowed upon me all the tools and knowledge needed to embark on my gaming quest. Now, with my gear assembled and my party forming, I eagerly await the coming of gaming nights, where adventures shall unfold and legends shall be born!
The Game Shelf in Kent is a very welcoming place. Employee Katrina (and others) are super friendly and helpful. They have lots of tables and even games or playmats that can be used there for free. Plus, they have snacks and drinks for sale too!
