Absolutely fantastic gamestore! I came into the area on vacation and was recommended to go here from another gamestore. Was blown away by how friendly the owner was. I came with MTG in mind and I was not disappointed! I consider myself a pretty seasoned magic player looking for high end items and this place delivers. The real reason to write this post however is the community that's been built here! Ive been around the country at dozens of gamestores and this one is a real gem. Extremely welcoming community! Me, some guy off the streets was asked if I brought any decks then immediately pointed to some others playing the same and I got a game in! An hour later they had a standard tourny and 2-3 complete strangers offered for me to play their decks just so I could join them! It takes some insane passion and genuine love for the game to have such an amazing group of people out here. 10/10 gamestore here. I cant praise this place enough. It has one genuine problem...ITS NOT IN MY HOME TOWN! Massive shout out to Bobby a real salesman and comedian. Keep it up guys! If im ever in the area again I will seek you guys out personally! This place was literally the highlight of my week long trip! Thanks so much!
Northern Realms is an absolute gem for trading card collectors. Christian runs the shop with genuine passion and it shows in every detail—from the great selection of cards to the welcoming atmosphere. Every visit feels more like catching up with a friend than just shopping. The store is always organized, prices are fair, and Christian is always willing to share knowledge or help you find exactly what you’re looking for. It’s rare to find a place that captures both the community spirit and professionalism of the hobby like this one does. Easily the best local card shop around—highly recommend Northern Realms to anyone who loves collecting!
Absolutely a godsend for a local card store. I travel the country for work and frequently visit card shops all over. This place is a gem. Amazing value. Knowledgeable staff. Consistently fresh inventory. I would put this shop up against some of the best in all of the Midwest.
This card shop has become a weekly visit for me and my 4 year old son, and the staff at Northstar Games have gone above and beyond in helping to grow my son's interest in Pokemon. Andrew has been awesome since our very first visit and has always helped us feel welcome in the store, even though we aren't at a point where we are participating in any of their gameplay nights. They've definitely earned our loyalty, and I look forward to continuing to visit with my son for many years to come. Can't recommend this store enough!

TLDR: One of the best card stores in Tacoma, and I suspect the greater Puget Sound - best prices, best staff, and a great scene for Pokemon/MtG. Disclaimer - The contents of this review will be constrained to the gaming/TCG side of the storefront since I have no experience with the sportscard part of the store. Prices - The store has some of the fairest and most reasonable prices for product in the area - I have not found a better value for buying sealed product for Pokemon or Magic the Gathering in the area. They don't upcharge, and their prices often reflect the lower part of the current market. They have good inventory, and oftentimes even for in-demand sets, they'll receive enough product for you to have access to packs. There is no other way to say it: at least for TCGs and as of this writing (and the past two years I have been coming here) the prices here are best among LGS's. Environment & Games - The store is bifurcated - with the entrance opening into a large sportscards and sports memorabilia section. I don't have much experience with the sportscards side, but my friends who do enjoy it and have pulled some big hits here. The back side of the store is recently renovated, clean and well-laid out with gaming products (Pokemon, YuGiOh, MtG, Star Wars, One Piece, etc.) The store has a few boxes of cheap MtG singles at any given time as well as a few labeled and stickered high-price singles. Where it shines for MtG is that they have very good access and fair prices for MtG sealed product. The store really shines in Pokemon - it has a very active Pokemon League with people of all ages in a very family friendly environment. The store stocks meta-relevant singles, singles binders, slabs, and a lot of Pokemon sealed product. There is a robust trading scene and a growing tournament scene led by the Pokemon Professor on staff (more on staff below). The store has other game product too, and I regularly see folks playing Lorcana, Star Wars Unlimited, and occasionally YuGiOh as well (though Pokemon seems to be dominant.) There is not much of a Commander/MtG playing scene, but in my opinion the store remaisn the best place to buy MtG product. Staff - This comes last because it deserves the most attention. The staff here are all excellent human beings - and whatever management and ownership are doing to keep these folks at the store should continue. Special shoutout to Ian, Jordan & Steven. The staff here look out for the kids during Pokemon League, form personal connections with the regulars, and are always fair. They're genuinely great people - and I find myself popping into the store sometimes just to say hi to them. Great store, great staff, great prices - support this store, they deserve your patronage!

We LOVE this store so much. My husband got into Pokemon while taking care of his mom in Canada, and when he got back to Florida he was struggling to find a store that felt like a community. The moment he found Numiru he knew his search was over! Nolan and Krystal are THE BEST. They are kind and easy to talk to. I'm not really into card games, but I love board games and they never make me feel anything but part of the group - even though I don't know as much about cars games. I also love that they have board games here for us to try out! We have found some new faves that we have added to our collection!We've also become friends with other people who shop here. A week hardly feels. Complete without a trip to Numiru!
