New Canaan Toy Store is widely considered to be the oldest continually operating toy store in New England. It is locally-owned by Connecticut natives, Nathan Shapiro Annie Hedrick.

If you are really into pokemon cards, this is the place to go to. They have an amazing selection of cards, from expensive art rares to bulk. They also have a selection of hot wheels, funko pops, figurines, and other nerd items. The employees are generally friendly, sometimes hard to talk to, but still very knowledgeable and helpful. Me and my boyfriend come here all the time to try to add cards to our collection, and this place changes their stock almost every day, so we often find cards that we're looking for to take home. Too bad they don't have a website to look at their stock unlike some other nerd stores, but still very good. Would recommend visiting here and checking the place out.

Pretty good looking place, but I can't find it in my heart to rate it anything above a 2 due to the insane prices that are listed. Me and my boyfriend went there to look for Pokemon singles to add to our collection, and all of the cards that we were interested in were easily double and triple the market price. The elite trainer boxes were also almost 50% more than market price. I understand trying to gain a profit but this is just an insane scalping price. I don't know how the fair the other products are but I would avoid buying stuff from here. The atmosphere seems nice however, they seem to welcome people playing the games and host events, if I was one of the people that plays the card or tabletop games then I would likely come here to play.

Among the local card stores, Prowess has the best selection and always has product of some kind in stock, whether it is new sets or legacy. Pricing is generally better than other stores I've been to in my area and the owner and staff are very friendly.

I've been coming here off and on for years and years but I think I'm done visiting. Store has a great selection of back issues but they are mostly overpriced based on market value. I will say, they have a nice wall of mostly weekly books. They have a lack of toys/collectibles but that's not as important. They have a section for Pokemon and magic too if that's your thing. The biggest problem with this store is the customer service. I've learned that any questions to the guy behind the counter will result in a snarky, sarcastic and often rudely tinged answer. If you wanted the stereotypical comic book clerk, you've got him here. Over the years, this has become a last resort kinda place and after the latest experience, I think I am done.

My must go to comic shop every time I’m in the area. Great selection of back issues, toys, books, and random goodies. Staff is always friendly & helpful. Fantastic way to kill a few hours and add great items to your personal collection.

Second Floor Gaming is hands down one of the best trading card shops I’ve ever been to. Their selection is incredible—whether you’re into Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic: The Gathering, Dragon Ball Super, One Piece, Weiss Schwarz, Hololive, Star Wars or even the new Gundam TCG which is now a favorite of mine. The store is small but organized, which makes it easy to find exactly what you’re looking for. Husband-and-wife owners and staff are super knowledgeable, friendly, and always happy to answer questions or give recommendations. You can tell they genuinely care about the community and the games they sell when they ask you to return anytime and tell them what you think. The atmosphere is welcoming too—it’s not just a shop, it feels like a hub for collectors and players. It’s even in the old location of the TILT arcade at the mall I used to work at. Their discord has announcements for weekly locals competition, tournaments and even pre-orders before the big box stores receive them. If you’re looking for high-quality cards, great customer service, and a place where you can share your passion for TCG's, go to Second Floor Gaming.
