Update: Given their response, I visited them again, and I do not think anything was improved. I did not see interesting cards in the showcase(mostly locals, like a Donovan Mitchell insert for $30), and sealed products had unreasonable prices (like $15 for a single pack of prismatic evolutions). In my view, the strengths of a local card store should be offering better prices than online and giving customers the freedom to choose their own boxes. Unfortunately, this store does neither. Hopefully they genuinely consider improving,. Being a well-known 'hype shop' is not an excuse for overlooking what really matters to local customers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Store was remodeled with a great design so decided to stop by. Environment - The store is clean and well-organized and I really like it. Many showcases inside grouped by sports/Pokemon. There's a big Pokemon showcase, which looks cool. Singles Selection - Since I am a follower of Ryan's Youtube Channel and their social medias, I always found them buying cards and selling online. However, when I go to the store, I do not find many interesting cards in the showcases, mostly local players. I understand that local players cards are good sales here, but maybe more options in the future? For now when I look at those showcases I feel I am standing at Midwest cards but with worse displayed singles. Prices - Sealed hobby boxes are priced fairly. Singles and packs are relatively expensive comparing to other places. They do not negotiate singles price at least from what I've seen, which is completely different from my experience with them at card shows. So if you want to buy singles from them, I do recommend going to their booth at cards shows, but not at the store. Customer Service - Staff there are fine. They greeted me and asked if I need anything. However, when I asked the staff that I am interested buying a hobby box and want to pick one by myself, they refused and only want to sell the one they handed to me. This is weird and I have never had this kind of situation in other stores. Events - I like the trade night host by the store, and which they can host more in the future. Location - Limited parking spots behind the store. Usually hard to find parking spot when the store is busy or hosting events. Overall I rate this store with 2 stars. I like the store environment and the events they host, but I really hope they can improve other parts I mentioned in this review. I enjoy talking and trading with them at card shows, but the store itself is not as good as expected. I do not plan to revisit for now but look forward to a better CardCollector2.

Positives first; I'm an advocate for shopping local when it comes to trading cards, and I think this store has a lot of fun inventory that I would encourage people to check out. You can find a decent deal on things if you know what to look for and the owner seems to be comfortable with negotiating prices on certain product. Now negatives; the "boss" is rarely in and it is my experience that the employee who is usually behind the counter is unable to buy or sell damn near everything when this is the case. If the owner is not present, and you're there to negotiate, sell, or look for ANYTHING in a bulk bin, good luck. In my experience he's rarely in. Unfortunately, I've also felt like the employee has aggressively shadowed me for loss prevention (which I get), made abrasive attempts at up-selling me on cards, and has made pretty presumptuous statements about what I may or may not be into every time I've shopped there. I think there are other stores near / around Painesville where you will be treated with more dignity and respect, and get a bigger bang for your buck without any hassle.

We came here because they had a great photo prop set up to celebrate the release of the Superman movie. We had never been here, and we were impressed by the size and selection at this store! The staff was so friendly as well. We will definitely come back for our comic book needs in the future. Thanks Carol and John's Comic Shop for the wonderful experience!

Not a place to do business. Is essentially just a warehouse for their WhatNot repacks. Little inventory for purchase compared to most shops I’ve been too. Scammers for how low their floor cards are on WhatNot. $25 floors for average bids of $90-$100. Never make it clear at all for new streamers the floor or ceiling for each break in show notes to explain how it works for new people. Won’t respond to messages in a timely manner, especially when I asked to do pickup instead of shipping since I live less than 30 minutes away. Since I didn’t spend thousands of dollars I guess they can’t “hook me up” like they do for other customers. Such a shame since the opening night trade event was so much fun and I met some cool people. Will not be recommending this place to anyone I know at local shops. Shameful this business is part of such a great card community I have met online.

A great place to take your old comic books They have a large selection & fair pricing. I don’t know a lot about that kind of thing but they do-professional, knowledgable and Id recommend them to a friend or fellow collector. Thank you

This place has been my go-to comic shop for years. They have a vast array of comic books both new and old that you could spend hours browsing, and I have. They even offer subscription services so that you never miss out on a new issue of your favorite comic series. The staff and owner are friendly and knowledgeable. First and foremost, they're fans themselves. They're up to date on the goings-on of the comic universes. They can even give you a heads-up on comics coming out or provide recommendations based on your preferences. All you have to do is ask! And don't forget game nights! Feel free to join them for Friday night Magic tournaments, or sit down and play a game of Pokémon, or even HeroClix. If you play it, chances are they've got a night for it. They also participate in Free Comic Book Day the first Saturday in May every year! From comics, to card games like Pokémon and Magic the Gathering, to tabletop games such as Dungeons & Dragons and Catan, this place has everything you're looking for and more. Whether you're trying to get back into comics or are just starting out, or even just in the mood for a wave of nostalgia, if you're ever in the neighborhood, feel free to stop in and check them out. In my opinion, nobody does what they do better. I'm a customer for life.
